Who are we

John Murphy has been an attorney since 1992.
He received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his law degree from Georgetown University. After graduating from Georgetown Law, John learned the in’s and out’s of federal criminal practice by being the law clerk for the Honorable Donald J. Porter, United States District Court Judge. John then learned how to try cases by spending three years “in the trenches” as a Legal Services trial attorney. In 1996, John founded his own firm, and has emphasized criminal defense ever since.

We bill fairly, transparently, and ethically.
We treat every new case as an opportunity to do justice on behalf of our clients. Each case is researched, investigated, and zealously litigated. That means we will spend a lot of time on your case. This is expensive. We are not a discount or low-cost law firm.

Types of cases

All serious state and federal criminal cases.
Murphy Law Office, P.C., handles criminal cases in both state and federal court, at trial and on appeal. We do not handle any non-criminal cases. We also do not handle minor matters, such as traffic tickets. This allows us to stay focused on developments within the field of criminal defense and not be distracted by the demands of other kinds of law.
